Explanation of the Procedures for a Loan for Privately-Financed International Students to Meet Necessary Charges for Rental of an Apartment

1. Loan Amount

In order to rent an apartment in Japan, you will have to pay various charges including a deposit, key money, commission fees and/or a premium for 'Comprehensive Renter's Insurance for Foreign Students'. You may obtain an interest-free loan of up to 100,000 yen to meet such charges.

2. Repayment
You must repay the borrowed sum within two years of being awarded it. You may defer repayment for the first 6 months. Thereafter you can either repay the sum in 18 equal monthly payments, or make a single lump-sum payment at any time before the end of The second year.

3. Eligibility
You are eligible to receive a loan if you are a privately-financed student attending a college of technology, junior college, university or graduate school in Yamaguchi Prefecture, or have just registered for any one of such schools with the intention to attend for more than one year. Please note that a Japanese national (over the age of 20) must become your guarantor.
